Lads, I’ve fucked up
My pseudry got the best of me.
>be me
>get into a discussion with some friends about the merits of politically charged literature
>qt starts listening to what I’m saying
>afterwards asks me for book recommendations

>I only ever read misanthropic, deeply male and boring literature and was pulling a lot of criticism out of my ass to try and seem smart

She’s not pretentious, so I can’t recommend edgy 19th century lit like Dosto and I don’t want to seem like a psycho, so I can’t recommend edgy 21st century lit like Houellebecq

Any ideas of books a grill would like?
I thought about 100 Years of Solitude and Wuthering Heights, but that’s about it
preferrably LatAm lit, she’s half latina

>lying about what you read
Just say what you read for fucks' sake. And when she recommends something to you, read it and talk to her about it. Not that hard.

It's not good but it's not bad either. Very mediocre
>>11746407
this is much better advice though, it ensures you keep contact with her

She isn’t that well read, but interested in it. I just worry that if I recommend Journey to the End of the Night and Moby Dick she’ll get bored and give up on them

>muh deeply male literature
No one cares. You sound gay.

Recommend her Lispector's The Hour of the Star.

Dosto is not edgy. Just rec her Hopscotch and have a nice day.

Honestly just reccomend her some Dosto. If she thinks Dosto is edgy or pretentious she isn’t for you man.

Girls don't actually read dude. She asked you a follow-up to your question because she's interested in you. She doesn't give a shit about your autistic /lit/ recommendations.

well, notes from the underground is pretty edgy. Obviously most of his books have a bittersweet ending but it is usually pretty dark with small glimmers of light. Now my buddy mishima is an edgy author though, through and through.

Then choose shorter fiction that's safe. Something like Portrait of Dorian Gray. Don't rec based on race. People generally find that insulting.

It's been a while, and I was confusing it with The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Yeah, I thought about Picture too. Anyways, sent her a list and included Lolita and Notes from the Underground to ease her into my style
And the latino thing is just because we’re both sudacas and she asked me for it, it’d be weird if I didn’t include some latino lit

>therefore she must like LatinAmerican literature
You don't understand the social dynamics enough to be yourself without making a cringe of you. Bravo.
