Are comma splices degenerate? I write frequently and have noticed that i use run on sentences and comma splices. My original drafts are often garbage and I break most grammatical rules. Should I write slower and fix as I go or keep doing vomit drafts? The vomit drafts can feel overwhelming to fix at times. Pls help

Unironically, get a used copy of an old edition of pic related. There are a lot of sentence structures that are grammatically correct if punctuated properly that, at first blush, appear as if they could never be saved.

Your teachers were probably too dumb for long multi-clause sentences and encouraged short ones. Don't feel bad. Go read some of the anatomy of melancholy and see the beauty of long English sentences.
