Yes, Greeks are pretty the same genetically as they were 2000 years ago. The reason the Greek nobles were painted as sometimes having lighter features is because they descend from the Myceneans directly. The Myceneans were 30% Yamnaya aka Aryan where as the average Greek today is only 15%. Though Ancient Greek commoners were 80% Ancient Neolithic Farmer just like modern ones. If you want to know what a pure ANF looks like, Sardinia is basically 100% ANF.

Some italian dude theorized that the events of the Trojan War actually took place in the Baltic Sea and the story ended up in Greece through tribal migrations.

So it's basically confirmed then. Do other Yamna-ruled people have their own versions of the Iliad?

It's an amusing anecdote at least. He believes that the weather conditions and geography described in the Illiad fit the Baltic Sea better.

That's super weak though, especially when you consider that archaeologists found a ruined city at Troys location IRL and discovered that it suddenly became smaller at some point during the time the Iliad was set in, as if it was sacked.

Oh I'm not saying it's a strong theory, and various researchers have poked big holes in his theory. It's a funny one though.

It is interesting and it reminds me of the theory that flood myths arose from the prehistoric creation of the black sea.

Dear, Sardinians score almost 40% western hunter gatherer. If the ancient inhabitants of Anatolia showed greater genetic affinities with the Sardinians than with the modern Turks it is another matter.
