Everyone keeps telling me about this Tucker Max dude. But before I give any of his shit a chance, I need to know
is the the kind of maddox over the top parody kind of douche bag or the frat box deal w/ nerd kind of douche bag.

>> No.1173526

Tucker Max is a fratfuck drunken douchebag with the writing skills of a goldfish. I have urinated on paper and created better writing than he has.

And he has a movie. Classic.

Well, less than a minute in and the dude already isn't too good with the grammar. Eh, I'll just stick with David Thorne and Maddox. It annoys me that so many people recommend him to me based solely on the premise that I am also an asshole. I'd like to think that not all assholes are comparable

well, it's not really "parody" per se.
It's more like Hunter S. Thompson's gonzo style. Just straight recitations of weird and fucked up shit.

What I like best about it is the general impression you get that Max is, beneath the douchebag exterior, actually a fairly smart dude.

Man I want to read this so bad. I interviewed Tucker a few days ago, got it up on my blog.

Looks like shit, but it seems pretty good so far.
Punctuation is shit though.
I'm guessing it is purposely messed up.

Actually, beneath the douchebag exterior, he seems to be a pretty shallow douchebag.

I'm surprised anybody on /lit/ even considers this stuff to be, well, worth discussing.

Yeah, on second thought, you should fire your editor, and you should fire yourself. I mean, no offense dude. No one is perfect. I was the editor for my high school newspaper, and even I would make a lot of mistakes, but damn, isn't this supposed to be like, professional shit? I proofread my stuff better when it was just for an A in an elective class.

Also, its not a particularly interesting interview, but I don't blame you for that. Interviews with authors never are, unless they are some kind of eccentric Willy Wonka type.

>> No.1173821

>>1173814
No problem.
It isn't really professional at all. I'm just a college student who interviews Celebs and people in the various media divisions for fun. But even I have to say that it was a sloppy move on my end.

>> No.1173829

>>1173821
How does one come into such a position? I mean, like I said, I was assistant editor for my school newspaper (which was pretty cool considering many third year students wanted the position, and I was offered it as a first year student with no previous journalism experience) and I did win an award for excellence in journalism, which is also the only award I won in my entire high school career.

Does any of that shit mean anything when trying to get involved in college journalism? I mean, that and English are the only thing I have much interest in, and unlike most people here, I will admit I can't write creatively for shit.

>> No.1173837

Well, you could have asked Tucker some questions that would have required an interesting answer, like, "If you had to get anally raped by someone, who would you chose?" or "Do you think it's possible for promiscuous people to age gracefully?"

>> No.1173844

>>1173829
Honestly, it just happened. It was sometime in 2008 when I had just finished the english dub of Higurashi no Naku Koroni. I was really entertained by the voice actor of the main male character and thought, 'I wonder if I could get a short email interview with the guy.'
Trust me, it's easier than it sounds. All you do is send an email and politely ask for an interview. If you suspect the person is busy, suggest an email interview when asking; it takes less time and isn't as much of a hassle for the celeb, etc.
I'm going to post a guide to my blog about the whole interviewing deal, soon.

>> No.1173846

Keep in mind that this was my first interview with a majorish celebrity, let alone a telephone interview. I was nervous as all get out. I didn't want to do anything that could get me in trouble or something.

well yes he's a shallow douchebag. That's the point. It's like whenever you're standing in line at McDonalds waiting to get food and some fat ass is ahead of you ordering 15 cheeseburgers and a diet coke. We all kinda want to just yell "hey lard-ass why don't you get the REAL coke, I'm sure the fireman who ends up separating you from your sofa in 3 years won't mind the extra 2 pounds" or something similar. And we don't, because we are conditioned not be assholes. But it's hilarious to read about some other guy doing it.

However, there's a difference between "haha fatty McFatty" and subtle references to topical and/or historical events. I'm not a funny guy personally, so I doubt any insults I can come up with would be any good, but you get the idea. And Max's work generally falls into the latter category.
