Yes. I didn't disclose to the extent that I do it. Whenever I see a new book I automatically download it. Every. Single. Time. I used to be this way with music as well. In a digital hoarder. I think I like the act of collecting more than enjoying the actual material.

Because you could always discover some important book outside of your shelf, but you would turn it down because of commitment to your shelf. The list of books you want to read will always be bigger than the list of book you've read, whether you buy new books or not; accept that and move on.

I only buy the books I have on my lits (currently over 300) when I can get one of them cheap or find one which I should add to the list. I don't care that I haven't read them yet, more for the post-apocalyptic times when there will be no more 4chins. I just buy 100€ worth of books (usually 15-20 books) a month and store them in my library. Worst case my kids will read them before me.

It's a nice feel to know that one owns a safe copy of the classics which no ideologue can simply cease printing.

100€ a month isn't much if you have even a modest income. And living off a good amount under 1K€ a month, still very good with money, beeing able to feed and cloth myself very nicely in a tiny budget which allows be to spend so relatively much on my only leizure activility. I like to thank all my WWI homemaking lit for those skills. It's insane how little one really needs.

Just for comparison, my friends regularly spend the same amount and even more on a single evening in the town.
