to an extent this is true though, a lot of the youths at that age equate normality and "being a part of society" with being up-to-scratch with regards to relationships (however cheap). It's not neccessarily the "sex" itself, but the stigma of "not having" that sex which causes a spiral that they eventually choose to believe they are no longer living in normality because of it.
It's akin to watching Sex In The City all day and never being granted access to a bar/alcohol. Just my two cents.
