When I lived in Alicante (Spain), I left my favorite bar one night, ran to the bus station in a hurry so that I won't miss the last bus home and came across a huge bookshelf at a public square with lots of books in many languages. You could take them home for free. It was awesome; I spent the whole night looking for books and took the first bus home instead at 5am, with about 13 books in my hands.
Every city should have one of these.
