How has becoming /lit/ affected the way you interact with other people?

At first it made me think there was more to life than staying inside with my anonymous internet pals and reading books. That maybe I should see what the world has to offer, pursue love, celebrate my friendships, maybe even make the world a better place.

So I went out and I decided to live. I now realize that people are fucking shite and I was right the first time, back to the land of the dead I go.

I tried talking to people about books but it always feels like a very pompous endeavor so now I don't mention it unless someone queries me on it. Which is never. So very little socially, but I think it's given me a new perspective on things.

not sure if it's b/c /lit but generally since the time I came here people think I'm cooler and are a bit more interested in my but I hate myself 10 fold more and am imprisoned in a jail of my own creation. I think this place helped me become more of an asshole but reallly I had it in me already

I can't interact with most women anymore because of my extreme disgust at their YA, Harry Potter tendencies. At least most men don't read at all.

This. Also at uni no one has ever heard of DFW, Pynchon and the books that gets all the love here.
This place fosters a not always helpful kind of (pseudo)elitism.

You must be going to a really strange university, because his seems to be the name that most easily impresses the college kids from my experience.

I am going to a german uni. No one cares here.
But i have just studied english lit at cambridge for a year. There at least he gets more attention. But only by the more interdisciplinary profs. But english profs just care about shakespeare and all the brit lit.
I guess it’s different at murican unis?
