How important is it to buy and collect books that are hardback compared to paperback? Obviously I plan on taking good care of them regardless

Paperbacks will start looking worn after one read. If you care about just reading the content then they are fine but if you want to collect and preserve then you will need hardback.

I'm an absolute non-/lit/ fag but assuming I store them in a sealable giant tube and baby them while reading how many years does a typical paperback book stay 'good'? I honestly have no books of my own yet to comment, just a few old handmedowns.

Wish the font was one point bigger.

This isn't necessarily true but usually how it ends up working out unless you're careful when you're reading.

Font size varies from title to title. My Ulysses is 1000 pages because the font size is larger and only fits 30 lines per page. Other like the Dosty that I have, Demons, is I believe 39 lines per page.

Most of my paperbacks look brand new even after a re-read. They're all from various publishers and vary in quality.
