yes their relationship was not always ez and they had some differences from time to time (Goethe could be a fucking autist and def. not an ez person to be around), but looking back Goethe described Schiller as the best friend he had, and that his life was never the same after he died; they supported each other financially, shared ideas, had a huge correspondence over many years and even helped each other with their work (Wilhelm Tell was proposed by Goethe to Schiller ; Schiller helped Goethe write Faust etc. : hell, even the 'dedication' at the beginning of Faust is dedicated to Schiller, as well as several other poems he wrote)
