Academics are just simply rotting boomers. There are a minority that understand how shitty things are getting and there's the other side that are totally clueless. The clueless side are haughty, dunning kruger types that think because they 'educate' brainlet zoomers and xoomers day in and day out makes them some kind of sophisticated elder you should bow down to. They are educated and experienced, sure. But they are rotting in their own bubble and they have no idea how fast the world is changing in all aspects in that being surrounded by brainlets and getting paid for it only makes them more deluded in thinking they are in the apex of intellectualism. Add the usual neurotic political policing in that mix and you get people afraid of breaking mold and losing their jobs.
