How do we know it was unfinished with the way DFW writes?

I mean he said he had written 1500 pages but obviously it would have been edited down. I guess because he wasn't in the process of publishing it and a lot of the pages were hand written and still in draft form?

Also this is by far the best thing he ever wrote

It really is his best book and some of the snippets in the Pale King are the best concepts/thought pieces I have ever read. It was truly a masterpiece and unfinished or not is my favorite book on our society

Because at the end of the book there's a list of things he wanted to add to it, and you get the feeling that he was nowhere near finished. For example, the autistic guy who listened to the thot rant was supposed to say something mean to her and make her cry at the end, and from his one chapter in the book you don't get any sense of that kind of maliciousness coming from him.
