>he thinks reading womyn authors and talking about his "feelings" is as hard as reading Latin, Greek, French and German to study ancient works of literature.

Philosophy is a little better, but there are no jobs. Economics? Enjoy your cubicle kid.

>> No.1162967

If you are going to go to law school? Philosophy and English are two of the most helpful majors.

Philosophy is the perfect lead into law. No one becomes a "philosopher" but philosophy is useful to have.

HA! HA! HA!
Get out while you still can. I did.
Ancient shit jokes are still shit jokes, and that's what 95% of classical lit boils down to. All the poets were pure shit. And yes, I've read it all in the original GkA and Latin. The only good thing I got out of 2 years as a CL major was the language skills needed to get a Byzantinology MA, and the philosophical foundation to study GOOD philosophy.

OP, study philosophy, perfect for law, unless you're going into commercial law, in which case economics would be just as good. English is really not going to give you anything that Philosophy won't as far as a law base. And if you're gna do business, do econ, for obvious reasons.

I'm an Economics major and wtf is all this cubicle nonsense? First of all, he clearly stated he wanted to either go to Law School of Business school. At least the first former means no cubicle. Secondly, wtf are you studying faggot?

English grad here. Currently taking Education classes for a post-bacc teaching certificate.

Yeah, the classes are pretty much useless, but its more about the networking anyway. Plus, that shit will end in a job, so it could be worse (like classics).

the one that's not english.

>> No.1164245

Econ. It'll help get you a first job that b-schools will understand (important since most b-schools put a lot of weight on your work experience) and works just fine for law school as well. It's also easy enough that you should have time to cherry pick the english and philosophy classes that actually interest you, regardless of whether or not you want to bother with a minor/double major.

Talk to some practicing lawyers, though - most young lawyers I know hate that shit and unless you go to a great law school it's not a very good investment.

science major here, hope you guys enjoy kraft dinner

>> No.1164359

OP it really depends on two things:

Are you imaginative?

Or:

Do you just want a career?

An Eng or Phil major is pretty useless unless you are capable of thinking creatively in order to arrive at an original and well-argued opinion. These two majors teach you how to do this, yet not many people realize it.To do so you have to be prepared to read widely and to put in study outside of your actual coursework.

If you want a degree that will be more valuable for simply turning up, doing the work and getting a good mark, do economics.

If you have a PPE option consider that.
