Do we invent metaphysical truths or do we find them without knowing that they are true?

/x/ would tell you it's all spiritual and that writers & philosophers were in tune with their souls. Realistically we know absolutely nothing beyond the confines of the thoughts in our own brains so anything beyond that is pure speculation and consensus.

To be fair, some philosophers would say something similar to what /x/ says. The whole notion of the existence of a soul and the way it understands reality is still a metaphysical question and thus had not been answered with certainty.

I think spiritualism is mostly the result of primal coding imprinting itself on our conceptual thinking. That's not to say that it's worthless, but our monkey genes have probably influenced the way we understand the universe more than any mystical force has.

The kind that calls you brain-dead, also fuck you for making me tyype this on a phone. Monkeys aren't spiritual. We're spiritual because our brains can handle high-order conceptual thinking, but still rely on basic emotions for snap judgement. We assign emotional import to concepts because of this. We're afraid of death in general, not just in situations where it's possible. Concepts connected to death and to avoiding it are thereby inflated in importance, becoming symbols/spirits/forces. Monkeys harbor strong feelings towards trees and snakes, both of which make appearances in the creation myths of an awful lot of religions.

All truth must be discovered. humans don't make truth, that's ridiculous.

The human mind cannot tolerate a void, a blank space, an unknown. When it encounters such a space, the human mind creates bullshit to fill the emptiness, to satisfy that need to know everything and have everything accounted for, in it's proper place. Even if it's wrong, that's OK. The void is filled, and all is well in the world. Even if it's filled with bullshit philosophical platitudes and false dogma. The human mind is at ease, because it has explained all. It has proven it's superiority to itself with it's own bullshit.
Lesson for the day: never buy into the bullshit. Even if it's you own. (much less someone else's)
