You know those silly writings and drawings you might find on the walls of a public bathroom? The kinds that say things like "Diogenes was here" or "Plato sucks dick" with a picture of a crudely drawn penis next to them? Well, my good Socrates, 4chan is exactly that, except bigger and more elaborate, where people actually partake in conversation on top of pictures of penises and inane comments. Anyone can read the writings of others and then contribute if they wish to do so. However, it is most often not the place of the wise and the valiant, but instead of the bored and the reclusive who have no other responsibilities taking their time, or feel insecure about the state of their lives. Sometimes a learned man walks into this metaphorical bathroom we call 4chan and contributes to the conversation in a worthwhile manner, but most of the time the goal of the conversation is just to be humorous or to enrage other people reading your comments by being as nonsensical as you can for comedic effect.

As much as I hate this place sometimes, there's a reason I've been stuck here for nearly a decade. At least I feel like when people shit on me they were honest about it, and when someone does actually like your post or you get a nice response that's helpful it feels better than anywhere else. I've always hated posting on Reddit because all of the fucking time it's people either trying to be funny and witty for internet points, or not telling you how it really is out of fear of losing internet points. At least on 4chan anons shit on me when I fuck up and are brutally honest.
