Violence and the sacred by René Girard

I wish I had read it at a younger age. It still moved me and I really appreciate it, but I think that its impact on me would've been bigger; at the time I finished reading it, both me and Stephen had chosen our paths.

Is Rumi one of the only poets that is great for both patricians and brainlets? He sells really well on a mass scale even to this day, and yet his themes are very spiritually sophisticated to appeal to a higher brow audience as well.
The only other poets that come to mind that are close to his appeal are Robert Frost and Basho.

start early
you don't need much money to start with
compound interest is your friend. so is dividend reinvesting
stick with stuff you understand, or if you don't really understand anything, stick with big index funds
if you want to invest in individual shares, learn a bit about how to read financial information
technical analysis is for charlatans
a diverse portfolio protects you against company collapses
don't try to time the market. also short term investing/day trading is a disaster for 99% of people
live within your means. don't get into debt (mortgages are an exception)
keep a bit of cash on hand for emergencies
it's not rocket science but at the time internet investing was in its infancy and most people didn't have a clue about personal finance. actually most people still don't

>first actual literature book I read (shortly after I started browsing /lit/ back in '14~'15)
>even though I didn't know literally any reference I absolutely loved it
>although I was a rebel angsty edgy atheist I always loved reading about religions/mysticism
>made me see beauty in christianity and question my beliefs
>made me want to know more about literature, philosophy and religion in general
>because of this, kept reading, started with the greeks and started reading the bible (among other classics)
>every time I re-read divine comedy I understand and enjoy it more and more, get more references, and every time I get to see how much I ""evolved"" literature-wise
divine comedy (along with moby dick and ulysses) was one of the books I wanted to re-read the moment I turned the last page and I feel I'll never get tired of reading it, specially when reading along Doré's illustrations. Currently working on my italian (currently able to read calvino in italian) to one day read it (and re-read it, and re-read it) in italian. Already got a bilingue edition ready.
