If you "remove all brakes from capitalism" then you get Switzerland; a country regularly ranked as one of the best countries to live in.

Yeah, with the money of corruption and the trafficking of drugs, humans and weapons that's laundered in your bank system is quite easy to enjoy the benefits.

Nah, its just the logical and inevitable "conclusion" to capitalism, just as Marx understood. Marx's theories of surplus value should be required reading for all economists.

Gibson is surprisingly dumb in many respects. He wants to write about near future as prescient analysis of present times, but he's totally bluepilled with most basic ideological and mainstream opinions and takes. Highbrow airport writer, enlightener of disinterested hipsters, master of pseudo-topics, happenings and underlying currents of the future. One step above the normies and ten behind anyone with any authentic interest in wider aspects of things.

He's a boomer's boomer. Read his bio and try not to cringe at every sentence. I recall reading that in an interview he admitted to knowing nothing at all about real computers, true to boomer form, it's all just stage props for the same old infantile boomer political theology.

Honestly it makes perfect sense. Gibson is and always has been a domesticated liberal. His books read like mail-order catalogs and list more brand names than Stephen King paperbacks; he is obsessed with fashion, commerce, and the ways in which consumer products influence our behavior, and of course he holds progressive social views that celebrate social outsiders. He doesn't see Neuromancer as a dystopian horror novel, he sees it as a fascinating indication of what might be.

He is not scared or even particularly critical of the future; if anything, he embraces it. For all intents and purposes, he is an accelerationist like Land, but without the self-awareness.

People who think in terms of
>capitalism failed by necessity
>socialism failed by necessity
are dunces. A single unexpected catastrophe can destroy any economy, country, system, etc.. This darwinian outlook is stupidity because it assumes that death = inadequacy relative to competition whereas it simply means inadequacy in the face of something (that perhaps competition did not have to face).

That being said, all evidence suggests that capitalism is far better at dealing with unforeseen negative factors. The less regulations the better at doing so as well.

>> No.11608434

Yeah. He referred to them through some ungainly description like "new Internet tech reactionaries" and said they were the inspiration for his time-traveling silicon valley techno-aristocrats in the book, and the nrx guys on twitter lost their shit for a hot minute. This was before the Alt-Right has become a popular term in the media. They would put out a piece of neoraction every 6 month or so making fun of computer nerds who saw themselves as worthy of being kings and jurnos saw it as funny rather than threatening like they would with the alt-right a couple of years later.

>This darwinian outlook is stupidity because it assumes that death = inadequacy relative to competition whereas it simply means inadequacy in the face of something
you need a large sample size to start making statistical inferences about what works outside of freak occurrences(or perhaps also in relation to them).

Now I hate marxists in a way that I simply don't think about Marxism or talk to people about it becuse it brings out a side of me i dont want to exist, but socialism genuinely has not been tried enough times to make these sorts of statements about whether it works.

There are other, reason-based, arguments against that are very valid but point to the few historical examples is not a very good argument given the context in which socialism has been attempted.
