I bought The Sound And The Fury today, i'm 20 pages in and, so far, it's a pile of shit.

Should I keep reading? or does it simply become a mountain of shit?

Start over again.

You weren't reading with the right attitude to begin with.

Same fucking thing happened to me, except I made it to page 30. I fucking hate the language they use, it's unbearable. I doubt I could stand reading a book full of "HE DUT DER DANG TUFFY QWARTURS".

I'm starting to think the reason for my distaste for his writing is the fact that i'm not American, I can't appreciate this book on any level.

Something's obviously wrong with you if you can't appreciate the greatest book ever written

Hey guys, I'm 3 pages into this and think it is awful. Does it continue to suck camel dick or does it get better?

Yeah I'm not American and I couldn't read As I Lay Dying because of this >>1159984

Dialect always sucks, though, regardless of whether it's an American novel. Cockney accents drive me up a wall.

>> No.1160249

this is the type of novel one almost has to read twice to truly appreciate.

that said, it's worth it. just keep reading. maybe use some sparknotes or something.

Have you realized yet that the italics are used to switch time periods?
