The statement was made to juxtapose 'the west' with the national socialist concept of race, not what was the end-all of NS ideology. Further, the point was that people (american liberals in particular) seem to think that Nazis are just conservatives that take things too far (or too their logical conclusion) when there's a number of deep rooted ideological disagreements between them.
