A science fiction romance about a group of young pilots who team up with an alien princess to fight a cosmic warlock. The main guy is a wanna-be Casanova who's into his snarky, tomboyish, tsundere, super smart co-pilot. She initially can't stand him, but the two gradually form an effective partnership and grow to truly care for one another. The novel ends with the girl saving the guy after he's injured and taken captive, after which they get together.

It's like Taxi driver but instead of taking place in seedy and corrupt 1970's New York it takes place in a utopian psych-techno post-scarcity society where everyone lives the life they want and can have anything they desire. The main character becomes enamored with how humans lived in pre-industrial times, specifically the brutality of everyday life. He feels that without something to fight against and a hierarchy to climb, life is devoid of excitement and meaning.

He starts to commit a series of increasingly severe crimes, leading up to an elaborately planned assassination of a prominent political figure. He is caught by the authorities and his plans are put to an end. Rather than facing the punishment he feels he needs, his captors assure him that they understand and empathize with his frustrations, and that they will work to help him be happier and to reintegrate back into society as easily as possible.

A man constructs an entire chicken using a magical welding torch found in the basement of his 2 year old townhouse and parts purchased from the meat section at his local wal-mart. Despite it having no head, the chicken comes to life and assumes the man's identity. People fail to acknowledge the man's existence, instead calling the chicken by his name. The chicken outperforms him in every aspect of his life, getting him several promotions in what he thought was a dead-end office job while he lives without boundaries, following the chicken around and taking food and drinks from wherever he pleases at no risk of being noticed. After a month or so, a hobo on the street kills the chicken as it is returning from work and eats it. The man is forced to assume the chicken's position and, within a few weeks, gets fired from his job and kicked out of his townhouse. He takes the welding torch with him and eventually uses it to light a cigarette butt he finds on the curb. Upon smoking it, he becomes one with the universe. That's all I've got so far.

A short story about a 21-year-old kid doing a summer internship where he is paid $8.50 an hour with a $2000 signing bonus to live in a metal structure at the bottom of the ocean and stare at a computer screen for 8 hours a day. He is a part of a top-secret program where as a 4th pillar of US nuclear deterrence three individuals are placed deep in the ocean around the world with a button to launch the full US arsenal should the other 3 aspects of the nuclear triad fail (Bomber aircraft, ICBMs, nuclear subs).

Established in the 1970's and initially staffed by moral philosophers and military experts, due to a progressive series of budget cuts since the end of the Cold War, these stations are manned by college interns taking part in the summer internship. The consoles, once harboring a litany of dials, switches, and buttons, have been replaced with a single red button which is to be pressed if a nuclear strike against the US is occurring.

The student spends his days sitting at his desk, playing an old XBOX 360 on shitty internet, explaining to his parents that this is a good internship and will get him good work experience, and watching pornography left by previous students.

Initially this would have been decided by the people manning the stations, but when the decision was made to switch from qualified individuals to underpaid college undergrads, it was switched to a system where targets were decided by a machine learning algorithm jointly developed by Facebook and the Department of Defense.

Anyway, the novel I'm writing starts off with the main character receiving a peculiar letter. He reads it, passes out, but never goes on to question what's written in it or revisits it. Throughout the novel he is simply detached from it and never really reacts. Whenever another character comes across it, they are visibly confused and sorry.
The story goes on to follow the main character continuing to live a mundane life, without him realising he's getting deeper and deeper into prostitution (as a prostitute, not as a customer). He documents all of his encounters, but one gets the feeling they were with actual lovers or friends, rather than customers. The reason as to all of this behaviour lies in the secret texts of the letter.

It's basically an autobiography.
