I liked it, but I also found it sort of frustrating. A lot of the stuff he describes sounds like it's more the action of fungi parasitically managing the tree crop, but he never really addresses that question. I also felt unclear on what differentiated trees from one another in terms of resource sharing, and on how many actual examples there were of the scent communication thing
