Did any film adaptation overcome the original book?

>> No.11567447

I actually kind of liked I, Robot on its own merits. It was a terrible adaptation but still a pretty entertaining movie with some good acting and special effects.

Ready player one was better than the book
The book was completely irrdeemable, but the movie shortened cline's autistic rants and made a little less trash in the process

pretty sure tarkovsky/german movies were better than the strugatskys' books

I probably prefer Huston's adaptation of The Man Who Would Be King to the book. Both are incredible but I think the few small changes were all for the better, especially Billy Fish.

Of those I’ve read I only agree with Woman in the Dunes and Stalker. Four Nights of a Dreamer is honestly a masterpiece but the book is just as good.

How do i get into Bresson's style? It just dosent work for me, the biggest problem is the monotone acting. Help me guys. It bothers me because i do enjoy the work of Tarr, Haneke and Kaurismaki.

This unironically. Don't get me wrong if you grew up reading LOTR it will always have a place in your heart, but Tolkien is an imperfect writer. Some of his decisions and detours in the plot could have been rethought, and sometimes his way of storytelling can get a little overwrought.
The movie distills everything down to the essentials and captures the spirit without all the padding and fluff.

It's basically the same. The book is superior because it offers more details the movie doesn't explain.

There's a fucking sequel.
>When Forrest's background in pro football is discovered, he gets recruited for the Sour Krauts, the unit's football team, to play against an intelligence unit named the Wiesbaden Wizards. Forrest certainly does not consider it the extent of when he played with the New Orleans Saints, but noted the Wiesbaden Wizards sure knew every play pattern. During the game, Forrest punts the ball, which flies over the Berlin Wall, causing another turn of events where people in both East and West Berlin start breaking the wall with sledgehammers.
