Dragarian novels (Steven Brust) - Excellent series,

Dresden files (Jim butcher) - This one may be a bit too modern for you, but its a great read if you enjoy tongue in cheek mystery type novels. very action packed though.

Obsidian chronicles - 3 series book. amazing read.
