I'm looking for the name of an author and his book. I'm fairly sure he is an American author and his work is a novel about a Roman emperor that lived and ruled somewhere in or around the Theodosian dynasty era, around the 4th or 5th century AD. I think the emperor's name is something August-something but I'm not 100% certain on any of these things.

pls help

Nonetheless, Gore Vidal wrote a book about Julian the apostate (360 - 363) which fits your description. It's called Julian.
