>no hack writers
But anon, Lost was headed by Damon Lindelof and J.J. Abrams. Getting genuinely good writers would go against the Lost tradition.

Could anyone vouch to say how popular the show was when it was out?

I'm 19, but I started watching it last year and love it.

>dude they were dead all along I don't have to explain shit lmao
It was such a copout since Lindelof kept stacking mysteries on top of mysteries and made it seem like they would lead to something more creative and thought-provoking than "i dunno, they're in purgatory or whatever."

The first couple seasons were great and a genuine cultural event. Not exactly like today where you instantly have access to the most reasonable prediction about what will happen next, if not the entire season all at once. You had to debate and theorize what would happen next with other people who watched the show, in person, which was half the fun of watching it--to argue about it the next day

Not only were the first couple seasons an exciting and heartbreaking character-driven adventure-drama, but you could still pretend to yourself there was a grand overarching narrative

It was building to something BIG. One twist led to another twist, each more unexpected than the last

I remember telling myself at age 14 that I couldn't kill myself just yet because I had to find out what happened on Lost. Looking back I should have just done it and died thinking lost was still a good show
