I want to write fun, vivid stories with genuine characters. Problem is, being a shutin autist the only thing I'd be able to give a genuine account on is my own depressing, inhibited, meager life. Anyone else have the same problem?

I'm curious. Were the shut-ins of the past who created great literary works actually shut-ins by today's standards, or were they just antisocial in a time when even so-called shut-ins were compelled to engage in plenty of human contact in order to survive?
