If a philosophy book exists and is modern (19th-20th century), then there it probably has had this cover.

it's a gorgeous painting, though
but I do believe it is often misused, as it's the quintessential romantic painting, and not adequate for Nietzche, for instance, as I've seen it used before

I've seen Caspar David Friederich's art on everything. I've no idea why it's so popular since it was basically unknown until like the 80's then everyone just started using it for everything. It works for the Romantic's but its basically become "default book" for everything else.

Yeah, I love it, but I could see how the way it is interpreted might appeal to some philosophies.
