I loved Nakata's story and was bored and repulsed by Kafka's story. Are there any Murakami books I'd like? Or just similar surreal fantasy books that are similar to Nakata's?

I just finished this book this morning, bought it on Tuesday. I loved it. SPOILERS BELOW:

Still a little confused about some of it though. The story is about the side effects of a demon who's attempting to ascend beyond his position and challenge God, right?

Put this down because I couldn't stand how it read. It was like reading teengnagers roleplay. Nakata brushing his "salt and pepper" hair every other paragraph, literally listing Every brand name object Kafka wore, etc.

Was this just this book or is this how Murakami writes everything?

1Q84 is the only Murakami book that I enjoyed.

Kafka on the Shore was just a shitty Hard Boiled Wonderland & The End of the World that ruined everything about that amazing book
