You don't subvocalize, right?

That sure would be tragic to have a low bandwidth brain...

Why would I want to be forced to constantly search for more knowledge when I can happily comb over a single novel for a month? I may be the less “well read” but I’m more satisfied with what I have and enjoy my time reading.

depends on the book, I find it helps with retention so if it's a book related to science, maths or cryptography then yes sometimes I do it with fiction as well but if it's a book I'm re-reading or don't care too much about then I won't

If you don't subvocalise you can't appreciate good prose or poetry in its full depth

Not only do I subvocalize, but if I come across a beautiful bit of prose, I repeat it aloud.

>>11495322
Poetry should always be read aloud.

I don't subvocalize at work because I have to read hundreds of pages a day (analyst). I speedread.
At home, while reading for pleasure, I subvocalize.

Most embarrassing Anglo problems:

1. Subvocalizing

2. Sleeping with stuffed animals

3. Shitting themselves
