How beneficial is reading books ( fiction specifically ) ?
are we just wasting time, should i see books as something beneficial ? or just an other hobbie just like playing Soccer or Chess ?
what is the limit ?
is reading 30 mins of fiction a day more than enough ?

Reading anything that isn't complete trash will help you improve your grasp of the language and improve reading comprehension which helps you be less of a fucking sucker in the rest of your life.

Art isn’t supposed to be “beneficial”

And after taking a second look at this post of mine, I've come to the conclusion that I really need to read more. What a horrible sentence.

In truth, I blame the hour.

I haven't read any fiction since I got out of school.
I never really liked it and sometimes it made me feel dirty. like some kind of voyeur. It's kind of like looking into somebody's mind and seeing their fantasies.

Soccer isn’t just a hobby. Cardiovascular strength is a pretty good payoff for the time invested. I’d assume chess makes you smarter. And reading, even fiction, will big up your brain just fine as long as it wasn’t something ridiculously easy.

Here's a philsophical question for you: why is eating shit bad? Do you think eating chicken is bad? How about sushi? Carrots? If you answered no to ANY of those, then you shouldn't have a problem with poop. Poop is LITERALLY digested food with a bitter aftertaste. Nothing wrong with eating delicious poop!

>Do you think eating chicken is bad?
Yes.
> How about sushi?
Yes.
>Carrots?
Yes, before you wash all the shit off of them.

it's just having a conversation. all art is a conversation with the artist.
