That's a good thing. Whenever I consider picking up a book I check first of all how much dialogue there is, and if it looks too abundant or too sustained, I purchase a few copies and immediately throw them in the trash.

He was an excellent stylist who took his strange obsessions to their limits, transcending the conventions of typical genre fiction. I admit his dialogue was poor, but as he wasn't writing social realism that's really a very trivial complaint. He simply didn't care about dialogue.
