There's nothing quite like a good storyteller, despite being written by one and told by another.

Is this any good? I'm finishing up new sun and it's really good, my library also has the wizard/knight as well as long and short sun.

It's a comfy power fantasy that doesn't make very much sense.

Spoilers. It is the dream Michael sends to Abel's mother and Ben after his twin Ben absorbs him in the womb, a Jungian dreamscape of a dead child that never got to live who meets all the archetypes of the collective unconscious - the girl he is "all mixed up with" is both the ovum of conception and the dream knowledge of America from his mother. this writeup on it only good for two more weeks.

Reading it now, so far so good. It's interesting the way Able thinks and tries to reason out problems. He also has autism for arrows

Gene Wolfe transcends the fantasy label and is now widely considered to be true literature.

Is this shit canon?

>> No.11470528

>>11470147

The question is not whether it is canon in the LCD court of useless popular opinion but in whether it is TRUE according to Wolfe’s intentions. If anyone can explain the dream sequences (Abel swimming with red and silver fish, getting swallowed up) and the appearance of Abel and the Earl Marshal (and the earl marshal’s twinning in Aelfrice) inside the most low god as well as explain how Ben is Bold at the end and what Kulili with her thread like fingers molding the aelf or even what Bold loses in the pond and regains when Abel heals him they are welcome to.

Not as good as New Sun. Easier read than New Sun, but has less going on, unless you subscribe to the shit going on down here >>11465564

It does, though, due to the framing device where the MC must die in this world to bring salvation to his fantasy land.
