Is there any kind of elevated, literary fantasy that exists, by a writer on the caliber of Dickens or Victor Hugo? Or is LOTR with its boring ass prose closest we ever get?

I don’t know if you'd call it Fantasy strictly speaking cause it’s an Elizabethan epic, but it’s got satyr knights, giant catholic-monsters, dragons... it’s written in this weird pseudo-archaic way. Edmund Spenser literally made up words he thought sounded old times.
