Literature about
painting or where a character is a painter and talks about the creative process?

I’ve found a pattern in some
of my favorite movies and it’s that they are about painters who engage a lot in the philosophy of art or in certain movements, and I was wondering what are some novels about something like that.

A short story called "Hell Screen", by Akutagawa - check it out on wikipedia. The story itself is worth reading.
Also Poe's 'Oval Portrait' but this one is really short.
