haven't seen thomas merton talked about much here. picked up the seven storey mountain and it's really moving to me- anyone else into his work? know anything like it (apart from confessions ofc).

Thomas Merton's great, yeah. His essay "Firewatch" is probably the best thing he ever wrote. I'm also a big fan of his published diaries. The Sign of Jonas and Thoughts in Solitude are my favorites.

interesting, i have no idea. i'm generally interested in religion, catholicism in particular, and i saw the book at a local store last week and picked it up on a whim. didn't really have any idea who thomas merton was.
