Is it wrong that my girlfriend is not my muse? She stabilizes me and grounds me, but doesn't inspire me or bring me to create. I love her, but I don't think I will ever make good art while I'm with her. That being said, I've been fairly satisfied with the art that I do create, but basically unable to share it with anyone. Do I accept happiness and emotional stability at the cost of looking back on my life and wondering why I never accomplished anything?

How old are you and how long you been with her? You can make her your muse, you can learn to be wild about her, devote yourself, dedicate works, try to impress her, try to place the love you have for art and her into art works, be consumed by the fire of love and passion, imagine that she will leave you if you dont, she will find a better, if your art does not shine and represent the worthyness of your love and being. The quality of your work is the representation of how much you care for her.

dont make that last bit mean that you arent making good works so that means you dont care for her.....

Hey, anon. Just wanted to say that my gf isn't my muse, either. I also feel stable, and I'm grateful for her. She seems to like my writing more than I do. I don't know if that' some sort of maternal instinct, or what. But, she pushes me to do what it is that makes me happy. I find myself being my own obstacle, most of the time. So, how about we both be grateful and happy, pursue our creative endeavors, and see what happens. What do you say?

When you are lonely, the thought of having a girlfriend regardless of love is tempting, but trust me it is much worse than to be alone. To be committed and tied to a woman that you aren't passionate about, I mean. Then you just go through the daily motions like a dull machine. The worst part is that if when you do run into a rare girl that you feel love for (and you will), you are tethered; you may not love your current girlfriend but you care for her and don't want to hurt her. So loneliness is actually a state of romantic freedom and the precursor to love.

I did earlier, thanks. Gotta say I lost some respect for Dante after reading about his infatuation with the real Beatrice. Was also wondering who the "lady love" bitch that was supposedly Goethe's muse was. Wasn't on his wiki but my search didn't extend beyond that.
