The Bible

It has killed millions directly and hundreds of millions indirectly.

Speaking of children's books... well, this is gonna sound like I'm making it up, but:

There's a very creepy picture book with no words that I think is called The Gray Lady and the Strawberry Snatcher.

I couldn't walk through my house at night for a couple of days after reading this.. hiding under bedsheets creepy

House of Leaves was not scary. It was frustrating and made me tense. 10 pages of backwards/upside footnotes (margin notes) on types of structures and books relating to architecture is not scary...

Now that part just pissed me off, especially as I was reading by candlelight due to the powerline to my house snapping.

I was once staying with some family friends in a house in Mexico one summer. My friend Quint read Relic ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relic_(novel) ) and apparently found it so frightening that he had to stay up for three hours watching Teletubbies after reading it to clear his conscience.

Seriously? That book is on my to-read list!

Thanks anon.

>> No.1139136

Hell House
The End of Alice (not scary, but disturbing and fucking fantastic)
H.P. Lovecraft (ALL OF IT)
*I've heard Salem's Lot is scary, but im very reluctant to subject myself to some fucking stephen king vampire story.
