How do I increase my vocabulary? I’m tired of having to use a dictionary every time I read a book.

You're already doing the absolute best possible thing to increase your vocabulary, anon. Keep doing it.

I can understand if you're in "growing pains", and constant interruption does disrupt the flow of reading. I recommend just marathoning a chapter or three, and taking note of whatever words you didn't know, or weren't 100% on, then look them up later. If your IQ is north of 105 you can guess with good confidence through context what the words are, mean, connote, suggest in their given passages anyway, and you'll find that you're usually right, or in the ballpark.

Free write with a thesaurus, double checking the meaning of words that aren't already in your lexicon while also keeping in mind the possible subtext of the word i.e. sardonic and sarcastic have pretty similar definitions, however sardonic is used to refer to cynical uses of sarcasm, so all sardonic remarks are sarcastic, not all sarcastic remarks are sardonic. You also want to be careful so you don't sound like some faggoty MFA chode who uses obscure words that make his speech/writing sound/read like they are trying way too hard to sound intelligent.

Instead of just searching the meaning see the etymology of words you don't know as well.
