11357426 No.11357426[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

How can I be a philosopher and pure metaphysician and a Christian at the same time?

>> No.11357438

Do it. Figure it out and write a book on how to reconcile/synthesize those things.

Or maybe you're just making this post because you think it looks cool on paper, but wouldn't actually pursue such an endeavor.

If you are a thinker, don't have a pre conceived idea of how to keep all of these things intact from the outset, I tend to think this doesn't work well at all. A big part of thinking seriously, as well as philosophical and scientific thought in general, is not knowing exactly what the result of thinking problems will be. The concept of Truth contains within it the potential for pre conceived ideas to be destroyed (even if what we access is never a completely indifferent or objective truth)

You can't, OP. Even just an moderate delve into metaphysics quickly proves the Christian worldview unstable. Unless of course you just take the easy route of claiming things are ""metaphors"", in which case virtually any metaphysical worldview is true.

Schopenhauer is a Christian Philosopher.
He knew Jesus Christ represented something truely divine in a moral sense.

I was just saying that if you accept concept of truth, or being able to engage with some type of truth even marginally, means that you will potentially have to revise everything you know or previously thought. Re the methodology of acquiring knowledge-There are unavoidable limits through which humans are necessitated to think and conceptualize problems sure, but this doesn't mean it's impossible to progressively engage with the Real at all via thinking problems or the critical progression of experimentation.

As far as the first thing you said I'm not really sure what you mean, what I was saying has more to do with the process of discovery and engagement with truth, just because most people base their entire worldview off of stupid pre conceived ideas doesn't really negate or have much to do with the point I was making.
