Has anyone else noticed how one's verbal fluency, both spoken and written, decreases in periods of abstinence from oral communication? I for one find quite easier to express my ideas, by writing as well as by talking, when I pick up the habit of listening to "rhetoricians" (either academic or "frivolous", monologuing or dialoguing) on Youtube, even if I'm also reading prose or poetry on a daily basis.

I find it significantly harder to keep up with even a trivial conversation if I haven't talked to someone for a few days

I often struggle to fully express myself verbally. I think it's due to my introspective nature and spending too much time on the computer or just isolation in general. All I do is absorb information. Rarely do I convey what I have learned or even feel. My internal monologue is vastly different from my speech. I'm hoping that by pushing myself to socialize more I can improve my verbal fluency. Life begins where your comfort zone ends.
