What is /lit/'s opinion of the works of Eric Hobsbawn?

Haven't read him, but since he's a Marxist I'm pretty sure I predict his entire bibliography.

One of the greatest historians of the 20th century while being an unrepentant commie.

It's true. But the good thing about he being an open commie is that he does not try to hide any biases at all. You can easily filter trough the bullshit. I had to read him quite alot at college, and he is great and important for modern historiography, but also super retarded sometimes. Just like every important historian.

His 'The Age of Revolution/Capital/Extremism are an easy read for people outside the area. Just give it a go.
