Hey /lit/

these are the books I need for my English class this term. Based on the books, what do you guys think I can expect, good class, bad class?

>> No.1132946

If they've got Fight Club in there it's probably a younger professor that thinks it'd be hip with the kids if he gave you that book.

You could have been reading 19th century women's romance novels, but instead you got Fight Club. Your class will be just fine.

1984, fight club...seems like pretty standard college fair.

Is it a simple english class?

>> No.1132951

You can expect a potentially interesting class that will probably be rather easy.

I wish I had this class. Blankets made me really sad though. And I tried to kill myself after reading it. I was already deppressed though, so you should be fine.

OP here.

It's a theme based first year english course. Called The Rebel, deals with ...well rebellious characters and shit. The prof looks to be in his 30s, people who have had him before say he is great, and so far he's been better than any prof I've had.

Former engineering student here, so I wasn't sure what else to take.

I've only read 1984 (I fucking hate Winston), is fight club shitty then? What about the others. Blankets is a big ass graphic novel.

this made me lol

Fight Club is a good book but it's got the same stigma as the movie. It's loved by every teenage rebellious faggot that takes it seriously when really it's condemning the message that they're getting from it.

>> No.1133008

I've read the Wives of Bath, by a different author. Hmmm interesting, gonna look into this one.

Really? So interpretation doesn't matter? And the author's intent is known?

>> No.1133028

blankets is god-tier graphic novel.

fite club is a very worthwhile companion piece to the (more culturally relevant) film.

Wow, never seen such a pretentious list of books for an english course.

must be a massive hipster prof
