I am working class reading philosophy. Tbh working class is no more prone to philosophy than the other. They are just less educated and mostly poorer. The education you get in uni won't make you a philosopher so I don't see this as being a good criteria. It is despised even by undergraduates or people in expertize. Philosophy is a practice that is right for any profession or position in life.

I'm majoring in phil and I totally understand why people dislike them. Most of this shitheads can't shut up about "the problems of society" and ruin every conversation with politics to feel they are not complete theory schizos who can't function in the normal world, like me. When that doesn't happen and there are attempts at slightly more abstrac discussions, everyone gets lost in their concepts. Then you get the actually intelligent ones, but since they are still in their early 20's they think they are hot shit and become narcissistic passive agresive pseudo-sociopaths.
I fucking regret this stupid choice of majoring in philosophy, I came to realize it doesn't interest me at all. I should had enrolled in english or biology. Is not like contemporary humanity will change their default materialistic and positivist mindset for a phenomenological one any time soon, people are just too dumbed down by media and the slave training we call educational system.
I have no scape regardless, I know that if I drop out I will feel like I'm missing something. For some reason my body tells me there is actually of worth in the texts of centuries of mindwank.
The philosophy class are either delusional mentally ill but somewhat functional people or brainwashed idiots trying to give some sort of discursive background to their political religions.
How could normal people not despise them?

i don't hate philosophy but i dislike a lot of it. i took a class on contemporary political and social philosophy and it was dumb. i took nothing away from it yet somehow managed to get an a because i knew how to bullshit.
