Could someone help a brainlet out? I didn't get this book. The main character just came across as either really dumb or autistic.

Imagine what the world looks like to somebody who isn't beholden towards societal customs, mores, or other aspects of what makes us human.

Its disassociation. Which can be linked to mental and behavioral disorders but isn't.
The point in the trial where the Stranger comes to realize exactly how nothing he says will make sense to the people judging him is pretty profound, honestly.

I don't get why that's profound. Of course nothing he says will make sense, it's pretty evident that they've already made up their minds about his guilt. That happens in real life all the time.
