Are there any creepypastas online that are actually scary and/or well written?

Look up "Tales from the gas station" and "Finding Vanessa". They're more comedic and well written than they are scary. (Finding Vanessa is like a sequel to Tales from the gas station)

The lost episode ones are always fun to read, despite them being near universally bad. In fact, it's probably the only thing I read that can be considered as "pulp"

It was never about being well written. When you turn them into novels you completely miss the point. Case in point, all the kids on YouTube nowadays.

IMO most of the scariest ones usually aren't very well written. That's what makes them scary; the lack of writing skill adds to the realism.

I used to read creepypastas for hours on end, so even the shitty ones are one of my biggest guilty pleasures. So to avoid turning this into an /x/ thread, I'll just post one of my all-time favorites that I haven't seen much recognition of.

Really good? Probably not, though I am sure there must be one or two which aren't bad, if only because there's so many of them.

Some can be entertaining, though, in the same way reading a newspaper article about a curious event can be entertaining.

That one is so shit. You can just tell that the author grew up on Stephen King novels, just like you can tell contemporary 'I am total good, you are total evil' left-wingers grew up on Harry Potter.

Not really, they are all schlock. But I enjoy the classicals ones, from the wild 4chan days 10+ years ago. Bad dream, interface to god (while absolutely ridiculous in its execution, I found the concept pretty interesting), Humans can lick too, etc.

It was years ago I last saw it, but as far as I can remember
>boy living in apartment building, fucking around with a telescope, looks into the building opposite
>sees this grotesque cartoonishly twisted woman-thing staring right back at him (might have been in the process of killing the occupant of that apartment)
>it sprints across the gap between the two buildings
>last panel is the thing coming up the stairs to the boy's room
It sounds stupid, but the idea that you might be living your normal life until you see something you weren't supposed to (or something sees you) and because of that you are unavoidably fucked is pure horror.

no, that sounds fucking horrifying. I can imagine it as a junji ito comic, and am suitably terrified.

staring is another thing.

Also "unavoidably fucked" is a reoccuring nightmare of mine.

here's a picture that shouldn't scare the shit out of me, but totally does.
