Man, I hate that I have actually experienced this once. Just talking about a biography of T. Roosevelt and how I found it funny that his family bought him a shotgun for his thirteenth birthday only to find out by how abysmal a shot he was that he could only see like 20 feet in from of him. Then he got his first pair of glasses.

Friend chimes in, "And he was a racist."
How was that relevant in anyway? And what did she even mean? What about FDR, was that who she was thinking of?

It has happened to me quite often with lovecraft and Goethe

>"Lovecraft hated black people" so he did with irish people but i don't see complains
>"Goethe was sexists, look at how he portrays women" 99% of writers before 1950 had patriarcal ideas in their writings, it is just a problem of an era not a person

And honestly, that's really the only thing you could ever say about Lovecraft, considering how fucking irredeemable his writing is.

Don't even bother engaging with these people. Wagner's (actually quite overstated) anti-Semitism does not take anything away from his tremendously significant body of work. Same goes for literature—be proud of reading your Conrad!

That's a genuine critique. Reading a book from a racist won't necessarily make you a racist because their racism doesn't always pervade the ideology which informs the work but a homosexual is much more devious. Everything they do is informed by their identity which is prior to everything they do and it's not always apparent. It's impossible to live a homosexual lifestyle without being a hedonist and a relativist. That's their philosophy and just like everyone else they think they're right and they're trying to convince other people that they're right even unconsciously through fictional stories.

A practical example of how they're dangerous to society would be the sexual revelation. We let them enter our minds and they've slowly changed people. It's been a disaster.

I like houellebecqs take about lovecraft. That his horror was fed by seeing his country being flooded with disgusting immigrant creatures.

>Also noted is Houellebecq's exegesis of Lovecraft's racial preoccupations, which he traces to a 24-month period during which Lovecraft lived in the comparatively racially mixed New York City of the 1920s,[3] where, Houellebecq says, Lovecraft learned to take "racism back to its essential and most profound core: fear." He notes the recurring image in Lovecraft's fiction of a mammoth, hideous city teeming with terrifying beings

turns out, you can only portray women as 'empowered' middle management career hags (Wonder Woman/Beyonce/Hillary types). this just feeds into the tyranny of the present and pop culture worship, normies need a steady drip of vox thinkpieces to convince them they are 'progressive' and moral for watching the latest prestige tv dreck or capeshit extravaganza while being 'critical' about its 'problematic' aspects, and appreciating the vibrant variety of races and genders so magnanimously represented. The past is bad and even thinking about it will contaminate you and make you a bad person. The social media news cycle is the oral homeric universe born again this time at the service of a banal managerial liberast ethos, Rawls meets Marvel and PepsiCo, in the future, everyone will get a superhero role model that 'looks like them', long reduced to identity political labels and CGI punch-persons

in the end, it's all about social media and marketing, normies want to feel like they are decent people and their consumer choices are meaningful. providers of content driven neuro-feedback loops and pop culture commodities are all too happy to oblige. just don't engage, read books, befriend interesting people. Reactionary feedback loops are a waste of time, as are the meta-feedback loops that react to the reactionaries coming to the defense of multibillion culture industry properties.

You people are all extremely stupid, I've read: Evola, Spengler, Genealogy of Morals, Theosophical texts, accelerationist screeds, and Junger in public and talked about all those people with grills from tinder with no negative consequences at all. I've even discussed the decline of the west and eugenics openly in class and on social media and my classmates are too illiterate and nebbish to challenge me. No one has ever said anything remotely like fascist or reactionary to me. Your persecution complex is pathetic. I've brought up commie stuff and had people call me a Marxist and get upset, but never for right wing lit. They have no idea that Nazis were rooted in an ethos of intellectual culture, they assumed they were German rednecks and white overlord class. They have star wars understanding of Fascism like its the Sith or some organic force which persists in the marrow of the white race.

christian art is full of images of physical suffering, because that's what life was like for the vast majority of the population in pre-industrial times, tormented by toil, the pains of childbirth, lust, war, disease. The angst of modern post industrial societies comes from our need to feel connected all the time, which really messes with the liberal notion of the autonomous individual.
