/lit/, do you ever have the balls to share your enlightened (by philosophy, historian, studies, etc) literary insights in public?

I mean for one thing I've never had a problem encouraging feminism. Usually the response is quite positive, the worst being a "wtf u doing bro" look from a few ignorant guys. However, I noticed whilst reading the student societies leaflet from the university that I will be attending this semester that there is a "Muslim Society" within the union. Now there is no way can I see my views going down well here!

Firstly, I think Islam is arguably an ideology. One of intolerance & conservatism & the only major religion that still has terrorism done in it's name today. Now defending my views on that would probably be do-able but no doubt my opponents will bring my own religion (Agnostic Theism) into it & I will end up having to defend Christianity's record too. On top of that there will be confusion since I don't think many of my opponents will have visited the middle east, unlike myself. They will not know how different the views of an Arab Muslim are to a Western one. Thus more confusion. This all seems a bit much to me but should you ever give up in the fight for truth, ever?

What would you do in my position /lit/?

Name one lie or controversial /lit/ topic in my post. I'm generally worried about this. I want to come across as a knowledgeable but trendy & friendly guy at university. Problems like this will occur though.

I am not a racist. First of all not all Arabs are Muslim. Many are Christian, some even Jews, so race ain't an issue here.

Secondly I don't have a problem with the majority of muslims since they are good people but this is at the expense of them not being true or devout muslims. It is the religion itself I have a problem with.

I am intrigued by your views and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

In academic setting my views on feminism, and overall a pretty much socialist interpretation of history and current events alike, goes down pretty well. In other areas, especially considering I live in Texas, they don't go down well at all. I'm also an atheist (inb4 trolls trolling trolls on religion trolling), which can lead to big problems sometimes because Texas is the big shiny buckle of the Bible Belt.
I pretty much agree with your ideas on Islam, but to say that no atrocities are commited by Christians is kind of ridiculous, there's still shit going down in Africa between Muslims and Christians, not to mention it's not like Christians don't fan the flames with a less-than-diplomatic attitude about it all.

On the second part of you post, I tend to support feminism, but at the same time despise people who turn it into misamory, as is the case in a large number of "feminists" I have encountered.

Also, I always try to argue against religions where possible. Any belief in an area of existance which is exemt from conventional logic is glaringly ridiculous to me, and therefore all religions are just as damaging to society at its core.

It is a Muslim problem. Muslims versus Hindus in India, Muslims versus Jews in Palestine, Muslims versus Christians in Nigeria, Muslims versus Christians and Animists in Sudan, and Muslims versus Christians, Hindus and Chinese in the Philippines, Indonesia, etc, etc.

Don't confuse the West or USA with Christianity. Let's keep race & religion seperate here. You never hear a Christian say that all Muslims should die. A Christian who said so in public would be immediately silenced by the authorities and maybe arrested. You can hear Muslims ask for the death of Christians, Hindus, etc pretty much in every Islamic country. They do it publicly. You can see their faces in tv. Muezzins, imams and ayatollahs do it in the mosques and on tv. Nobody is stopping them.

But religion doesn't have to be that. Islam however is very dangerous at present so that's why I'm concerned. Atrocities all over the world are done by Allah's will.
