no, Gravity's Rainbow is, and it's better than Don Quixote

>> No.11170259

No, it's literally Monsignor Quixote by Greene

In what sense?
In comedy i would say Catch-22 is the funniest, but in terms of a protagonist that is lame yet latter on good then i would probably say stoner

Disagree. Clarity always wins against incoherence and smug, deliberate obfuscation and Wikipedia-tier knowledge of random tidbits churned out nigh ad infinitum. In this regard Ulysses and Gravity's Rainbow are both sub-par pieces suited only to persons oblivious to the wiles of shallow writers hiding behind "complexity" to mask how empty they are.

You either haven't read Don Quixote, didn't understand it, or only read the first book in high school

GR is very good, but it's not the greatest novel ever written. That honor goes to el Quixote.

The author was a dead white Catholic so this opinion should actually be very popular in literary circles I am afraid. Nevermind, the truth of things one way or the other. Frankly, being taken seriously in literary circles would be an insult anyway.

Seriously why is Quixote the greatest novel ever? "its le first modern novel" is not a good answer because being the first at doing something seems like a cheap reason to call something great.

Quixote is needlessly verbose, you would know had you read Quevedo, which you probably haven't, seeing you style yourself as le epin contrarian above the literary circles.

>Quevedo
The Spanish Barroque was obtuse on purpose. Cervantes preceeds it. It is not really a verbose novel. Spanish is just a very rich language and using vulgar words can look verbose even if it is crude and vulgar
