A thread discussing sexual ethics, theory, gender studies and the literature that concerns it....GO!

>> No.1115123

Women are just crippled men. Discuss.

Implying that at some level, women are men. Women are less than that.

this thread confirms that /lit/ is high-school AP English.

an exciting and potentially enriching topic like this gets four posts while the thirtieth hur durr atlas shrugged thread made in the last half hour gets two hundred plus posts.

this board fucking sucks.

I can't actual believe the amount of sexism on this board sometimes. Women are equal to men in intelligience, you are a neanderthal if you still believe the myth that they are not.

What would you say is the most relevant recent work on how far we've still to go until gender equality, anyone?

The average /lit/ browser has read around 5 books in their entire lives, and 3 of them had dragons on the cover.

Doesn't really interest me. As far as I'm concerned it's all nothing more than shifting the relation of power.

I should in all honestly spend a little more time on this particular area before I inevitably affirm my opinion though.

Intelligence is a pretty big fuckin wide word there bro

Schopenhauer's essay On Women

This. A Watusi tribesman might appear unintelligent by our standards, because he might not know how a computer works. But he knows how to survive in an environment in which we would surely die. Different kinds of intelligence brah.

But hey! Maybe you'll be able to help me again.

Has anyone done a Jaspers-style criticism of Schopenhauer's work while taking into account his peculiarities as a person?

>> No.1116571

>>1116557
Dude what does Jaspers-style even mean? I don't believe there was anyone who wrote Jaspers-style besides, y'know, fucking Karl Jaspers, who as far as I remember did plenty of bitching and moaning about modernity.

>> No.1116583

>>1116571
It means criticizing other philosophers with the eye of a psychologist (though I dont think Jaspers would like that description). But whatever, you're the person that's read them all here.

Whoah now, I never said I've read everything there is to read. I'm probably the most intelligent person on the board, sure, but reading everything has ultimately nothing to do with that and would be something, qua Orwell and Schopenhauer, detrimental. I've read what's important and what deserves to be read.

lololololololol.

I meant out of us two you're the one who's studied philosophy, so you could disregard my view of Jaspers if it was BS.

Guys if we consider the world as essentially one large power struggle (roughly the Will to Power) and claims to objectivity as invested with relations of power it means that feminist argument is nothing more than an attempt to shift power.

But the thing is, the world is male-centric exactly because it is the more powerful will (in physical terms and interpretative terms), and this is neither right nor wrong. We might say the same of the race-centric.
