Tell me something about myself based on the books I purchased last night

>> No.11140863

You let this board dictate your cultural consumption a bit too much (read, entirely), but hopefully you'll get some enjoyment and intellectual curiosity out of two of those books. Guess which one I'm leaving out

You're from Reddit

Whenever you don’t like a /lit/-approved book you say something like ”A lot of it went over my head but it was really well written” and claim you like the author anyway.

>> No.11140938

You purchased one good book... I’ll let you figure out which it is.

Why don’t you like Gravity’s Rainbow and Blood Meridian?

you don't read very much but wish you did. You only bought these books because they're discussed on this board and you want to 'get it'.
You probably lack a strong father figure and watch a lot of youtube videos.

You like to prove yourself to yourself, and probably think reading fiction is virtuous.

The two novels are great though

It's Blood Meridian, Pynchon fags need not reply

Nothing should be as densely digressive as Gravity's Rainbow if it has any claim of purpose. It's nonsensical babble that a good editor could have cut down to 200 pages.

You are correct.

The self-aware /lit.tle prides himself on his ability to be both detached from his channelling towards certain cultural products and simultaneously enamoured by these products which the group purports to be of value. He is both in-group and detached, depersonalised conduit, a negative awareness that does away with information when it does not suit their fancy. That they choose to understand the group in this manner is ultimately suggestive of their over-enthusiastic power fantasies. Where no real, in shaft distance squeezablness, circlejerk can be found in reality, the /lit.tle mimics simular practices such as flicking paper, caressing flat, bottom-pressed wood fibres, sap-dried and settled much like their twaining edge towards in-joke release smiles, nods, yes group validation where no ego can spare a alphawave cock raging, bull appearing to rape that which is - instead a joyful surrender, surrender, total annihilation of the security blankets.

I enjoyed Blood Meridian too. Also loved No Country For Old Men. For some reason I found it impossible to get into The Road and All The Pretty Horses.
I'm pretty sure McCarthy is a pseud going by interviews and that horrible script he's written, but his books are fucking comfy in a distinct way. The only person that reads similarly to me is Marquez.

you won’t understand GR and you are exactly the kind of person to get a hardon from the last scene in BM

also you’re going to shame yourself frequently by acting like male authority figures are your father and when you realize you’re too genetically distant from them to get that kind of hard affection and that they’re exploiting you for your energy and labor you will crash hard, give it 5-7 years of wage slaving at some office
